EmpowHERto Receives Donation from BLG to Support Programs for Minority Women in Data and Coding

By: Tessa Piccolo

Toronto ON – October 17, 2024 – EmpowHERto is happy to announce the donation of ten laptops from prominent Canadian law firm Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG). This equipment is a vital contribution to their CodeHer and Data4Her programs and will have an immeasurable impact on the futures of the girls whom their programs serve.

EmpowHERto works to provide opportunities to minority girls and young women from underserved communities, inspiring them to fight against systemic obstacles and achieve their full potential. CodeHer and Data4Her are two programs which they formulated to do just that;  working with their partners at Lynx, Python, and Data Camp to provide the skills, knowledge, and confidence for young minority women to pursue a future in the tech field. Their programs and everything they accomplish are made possible with the generous support of organizations like BLG. The hardware they donated will help to expand the reach and impact of their programs, ensuring that participants are receiving the highest quality of instruction and experience.

With their numerous community initiatives and dedication to an inclusive and equitable future, BLG’s impact extends far beyond the realm of law. Janeen Brown, Founder and Director of EmpowHERto, said “We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to BLG for their incredible support over the past year. Their contributions, from essential items for our girls to now providing laptops, have made a significant impact. It’s such a great feeling knowing that we have the backing of Toronto corporations like BLG, standing alongside us in empowering the next generation. We truly appreciate their commitment!”
