Highlighting BLG’s Item Donation for International Women’s Month

By: Lucie Huang

In March, EmpowHERto had an incredible opportunity to collaborate with Borden Ladner Gervais (BLG), a leading law firm to celebrate International Women’s Month. This collaborative effort was initiated as a part of BLG's Extraordinary Women in Tech event. Our collective goal was to amplify and empower the voices of women in the IT industry while making a tangible difference in the lives of aspiring female entrepreneurs.

This initiative, which spanned across multiple offices, witnessed lawyers, business professionals, and staff members from all sectors of BLG corporation coming together. In partnership with Kits for a cause, over 400 hygiene kits were assembled for EmpowHERto’s Tech4Her program. These hygiene kits put together by BLG's employees were filled with a variety of health and beauty essentials, from deodorants, haircare, skincare, to cozy socks. Making the kits even more special were accompanying handwritten notes of encouragement and inspiration. They serve as symbols of support for the girls and young women participating in the Tech4Her program.

Spotlighting BLG's Extraordinary Women in Tech event, this event serves as a platform to celebrate and champion women in the IT industry. Recognizing their immense innovations and contributions in the industry, this initiative aligns strongly with the work we do at Empowherto. The decision to partner with BLG was a natural fit, as we are both driven by shared values and a common vision: to empower young women and girls to pursue their passions and ambitions. As a local organization with a mission to support young women across various fields, our objectives here at EmpowHERto resonated deeply with those of BLG.

At the heart of this collaboration lies EmpowHERto’sTech4Her program which seeks to empower young girls to explore opportunities in coding, through workshops, mentorship, and hands-on training. With the support of BLG, Tech4Her can equip many young minority girls in gaining the necessary skills and confidence they need to thrive as a tech professional.

In the journey towards gender equality and empowerment, every partnership and initiative matters. We are incredibly grateful for BLG’s support and their continued dedication and commitment to supporting the next generation of female leaders in technology and entrepreneurship. Together, let us continue to champion the potential of young girls and pave the way for a future where they can thrive, innovate, and lead with confidence.
