Our EmpowHERto team is made up of a group of dedicated staff and volunteers who are committed to helping young womxn and girls reach their full potential as leaders. We plan activities and programs, coordinate and host events, and encourage girls along their journey to becoming their best selves. We’re passionate about our mission.

Arthi Kunasingham

Lead Youth Advisory Board Member

As a full-time law student, Arthi is passionate about working in criminal law – particularly crimes against women and children.

EmpowHERto has provided her with a voice as part of the Youth Advisory Board where she has been able to act on the social responsibility she had always felt with the community. Throughout her studies, she’s worked with organizations in both Hamilton and London to launch targeted educational programs for vulnerable populations. Her most recent initiative, Project Consent, was featured on our IGTV Live series as a community engagement project providing free legal education to high school students about sexual assault and consent.

Understanding the struggles young womxn face in today’s society, Arthi is looking forward to using her experiences and connection to our audience to help EmpowHERto launch meaningful initiatives – those she wishes she had as a female visible-minority trying to pursue her wildest dreams!

Anushka Oberoi

Youth Advisory Board Member

With a Masters of Science in global population health, it is important for Anushka to provide sustainable and long-term solutions within local communities.

She has a background in working at international non-profit organisations, and hopes to bring her experiences to EmpowHERto.

“At EmpowHERto I can be a part of a non-profit organisation that celebrates women helping other women. I want to use my role and platform to decrease the inequalities that exist among the population and empower those who feel underrepresented or unseen. ”

Eliza Pasha

Youth Advisory Board Member

A high school student, Eliza has always been a passionate advocate for girls and womxn’s rights.

This passion led her to join EmpowHERto as a Youth Advisory Board member. “I come from a country where girls are less inclined and able to get a proper education, and there’s a huge gender gap that is mirrored in the society. My personal background in the area of gender discrimination has made me realize that I must use my voice for those who can’t. EmpowHERto has provided me with a platform to help and inspire other young women around me, and it’s allowed me to create my own small ripple of change in the world, whether that’s motivating someone to pursue their own passions, or just helping them to feel confident in their own skin.”
