October 21 marks the sixth anniversary of Empowherto! To celebrate this special day, we are highlighting some of the amazing work we have accomplished here at Empowherto over the past year, and offer a sneak peek into all the wonderful events and programs to look forward to in the upcoming year!
But first, we had the opportunity to speak with our founder, Janeen Brown, on what the sixth anniversary of Empowherto truly means for her:
“EmpowHERto’s sixth anniversary holds profound significance for me. The fact that we continue to thrive and make a positive impact on countless girls is truly remarkable. I owe our enduring success to the unwavering dedication of our exceptional staff and committed board members. They are not only instrumental in shaping and implementing our programs, but they are the very heart and soul that sustains us. Their passion for this work mirrors my own, and I am deeply grateful for their contributions.”
“I would also like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of our partners and sponsors. Your belief in what we do and, more importantly, in whom we do it for, has been instrumental in our journey. Your support is a crucial pillar in our mission, and we look forward to continuing this partnership as we work together towards a brighter future for girls. With your unwavering support, I am confident that we will make a difference for many more years to come. Thank you all.”
Looking ahead, there are a variety of events and programs Empowherto has planned the last quarter of 2023 and 2024. These include a movie screening from a Black female filmmaker, followed by an exclusive Q&A with the director. In November, EmpowerHERto will be hosting a relationship event where young girls are encouraged to discuss and learn more about the importance of platonic and familiar relationships in their lives. Our Tech 4 Her program will also be running all throughout November, where young girls can learn more about the basics of coding. In January, we will be kickstarting the year with a Gen-Z politics program, where young Gen-Z girls interested in politics and law can connect and learn how to make a positive change in their communities.
We hope you are as excited for the coming months as we are, and we can’t wait to see you all in person or virtually at one of our programs! In the meantime, look out for our newsletter for more details and information!
