Learning how to manage money is an important life skill—the more knowledge you have about finances, the better prepared you are to make financial decisions and eventually become financially independent. At EmpowHERto, we aim to provide information and resources to help young womxn gain these skills and reach their financial goals.
In furthering this goal, we’re excited to announce that we’ve received a $10,000 grant from TD Bank Group for Q1 of 2022!
The grant will be used to fund the second year of our financial literacy program, Finance Finesse. Launched last March, the 12-week program consists of three modules, delivered virtually, covering the topics of budgeting, saving, and investing. The program also includes workshops for resume writing to help girls successfully enter the job market.
“I am very excited to watch our program come to life and impact the lives of so many young girls by helping them reach financial independence in the long-term. Participating in the grant writing process and winning such a generous sum from TD Bank was a great accomplishment, as a team and as an organization,” says Brenda Aviles, Program Director at EmpowHERto.
Sawsan Nashashibi, Grant Team Manager, and her team were also instrumental in helping secure the grant. “We’re very excited to give the girls of our community the tools they need to become financially independent and teach them all they need about financing, saving, investments, and more! We at EmpowHERto believe knowledge is power, and we’re grateful to have the opportunity to forward our knowledge to the next generation.”
EmpowHERto continues to pursue grants to fund our programs in the areas of Leadership, Health and Wellness, STEAM, Civic Engagement, and Community Building. In addition to these programs, this year we are partnering with TD Bank to host various in-person events where girls can learn more about financial wellness and accountability. We’re looking forward to the first of these events, taking place on February 8th, 2022.
