Palm trees and warm, sandy beaches is the backdrop for the newest location for EmpowHERto in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The office opened its doors on September 1, 2021 and aims to bring the mission of creating leadership opportunities for future female leaders to young women and girls, especially in underserved communities in Southern Florida.
“We’re beyond excited to make this announcement and believe it will help to extend our mission of helping young women and girls in the U.S.,” says Founder & Executive Director, Janeen Brown.
EmpowHERto will continue to offer activities and events around its six core programs: Leadership, Health and Wellness, Financial Literacy, STEAM, Civic Engagement, and Community Building. These programs will run as scheduled until enough funds are raised to open the leadership resource centre, which will house everything on-site.
The Toronto office will remain as the main location with the Fort Lauderdale office following the lead on its initiatives and continuing its mission and vision.
“Currently women seem to still be receiving fewer opportunities compared to men,” says Janeen Brown. “The key to tackling this issue is ensuring women get a seat at the decision-making table. With EmpowHERto, we are teaching the girls how exactly to do so.”
Currently, in the stage of expansion, EmpowHERto is hiring for positions in Fort Lauderdale and Southern Florida.
Join our mission and help young women and girls become future leaders!
