Loving yourself for who you are can go a long way in boosting your self-confidence.

The way we need oxygen to survive, we need self-esteem to succeed!

By the time we reach our teen years, the foundation of our self-esteem begins to develop cracks. Suddenly we begin to doubt ourselves, our abilities, our goals. We look at our bodies in the mirror and no longer like what we see. Why? There are a number of reasons including self-doubt, comparisons, peer pressure, and social media.

Self-esteem is all about the confidence you have in yourself and in your abilities. It’s not a skill that you gain but an innate strength that you discover in yourself as you evolve through various challenges in your life. It involves the personal values and emotions that motivate you to believe in yourself. Here are some ways to boost your self-esteem today.

Be kind to yourself. It’s the key to boosting your self-esteem. Negative thoughts or negativity about yourself can play over and over in your mind. So, in order to have a certain level of self-worth, be positive about yourself.

Challenge yourself. Always remember that challenges help in developing a spirit of achievement. In order to boost self-esteem, treat your opportunities as challenges to prove yourself.

Be selfless. Help others in your community including friends and family. Creating opportunities to better the lives of others creates some perspective in your own life and helps you to appreciate what you have. It instills a sense of belonging. By helping someone, the joy you see on their face will definitely boost your self-confidence.

Try to make the best of all the opportunities you get in life. Set a goal and stick to a timeline to achieve that goal. This not only makes you a more disciplined person but also develops your sense of self-esteem and self-worth.

Appreciate yourself and your journey. Yes, you deserve it. Pat yourself on the back for the person you are. Be friends with yourself and do not forget to treat yourself to something you’ve always wanted today!

Try this daily activity to get an extra boost of self-esteem:

At the end of every night take some time out to reflect on your day. Ask yourself, “what am I grateful for?” Or write it down in a journal. Having a sense of gratitude generally helps you to feel better about what you have and what you accomplished that day.
