Palm trees and warm, sandy beaches will be the backdrop for the newest location for EmpowHERto when it opens its doors in Miami, Florida. The move is planned for January 2021 and aims to bring the mission of creating leadership opportunities for future female leaders to young women and girls, especially in underserved communities in Southern Florida.
“We’re beyond excited to make this announcement and believe it will help to extend our mission of helping young women and girls in the U.S.,” says Executive Director Janeen Brown.
EmpowHERto will continue to offer activities and events around its six core programs: Leadership, Health and Wellness, Financial Literacy, STEAM, Civic Engagement, and Community Building, which will be offered at various co-working spaces in Southern Florida including Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Hallandale Beach. These programs will run as scheduled until enough funds are raised to open the leadership resource centre, which will house everything on-site.
The Toronto office will remain as the main location with the Miami office following the lead on its initiatives and continuing its mission and vision.
“Currently women seem to still be receiving fewer opportunities compared to men,” says Janeen Brown. “The key to tackling this issue is ensuring women get a seat at the decision-making table. With EmpowHERto, we are teaching the girls how exactly to do so.”
Co-founder, Natalie James shares her view. “The only way to move forward into the future is to educate and empower the younger generation by providing them with the knowledge to lead impactful lives on a local level. Thus, giving them the ability to change the lives of women across the globe.”
Currently, in the stage of expansion, EmpowHERto is hiring for positions in Miami and Southern Florida.
Join our mission and help young women and girls become future leaders!
